Bull Family Ancestry and Genealogy

Picture
The Bull Genealogy was first recorded in the spring of 1796 at the burial of Sarah Wells Bull at the age of 100 or 102 (based on her grandchildren’s bible records showing her birth as April 6, 1694 or 1696. The 1st Bull Genealogy record was handwritten and a copy given to each of the 12 lines.

In 1868, the first Bull picnic was held at the cabin of Daniel & Hannah Bull (siblings) on Hannah’s mountain and at burying hill (Hamptonburg Cemetery). The 7 daughters of Ebenezer Bull (1792-1857 son of Daniel Bull that lived in Bull Stone House) raised funds to erect the memorial to William Bull & Sarah Wells.

In the 1940’s several Bull family members began a journey to produce a Bull family history and genealogy book (a project that took them over 25 years) and came to fruition with the Bull Blue Book first published in 1974 by Dolly Booth, Phil Seaman and Emma McWhorter and has been reprinted 4 times. It contains about 8,000 names and includes Generations 1-6 and some 7th generation Bull descendants. Currently the book is out of print. The Bull Bull book was a huge undertaking without all the tools (email, copiers, computers or the internet) that we have access to today, but it is missing over 4,000 Bull descendants plus their spouses. They collectively planned on printing a 2nd book through the 8th generation, but that never happened.

Many times the Bull family has asked where is the 2nd Bull Blue Book?  As of October 2024, the Bull genealogy contains 151,128 names and covers up to 14 generations. If we were to publish today, it would be quickly be out of date because each day a new Bull baby is born or someone dies. The hard working genealogy committee is still finding and adding thousands of missing Bull descendants every year.  It would take over 15 books to cover all 14 generations.

The Bull family has instead produced a Bull Genealogy Flash drive thru June 2024 and is now offering an electronic family book created from William & Sarah down to a living person. This way all of the newly found Bull’s can be included for your line along with deaths, marriages, photos and obituaries.

How can you find out what is recorded in the Bull records for your family or if you are a Bull Descendant?    A family printout of the last 3 or 4 generations is always available to all Bull descendants. Please contact Judy Wood by cell# 972-413-0300 or email  [email protected] and she can send you a family report. Then, fill out and submit a family group sheet (please download).

Have you ever wondered what your Bull Civil War ancestor’s record might contain?  Cousin, Cindy Norton has digitized almost 100 Civil War pension records on Bull descendants or their spouses that served. They are available to download or just click on and read what battles they fought in, they lived after the war, information on their wives and families – many include children’s names and birth dates, especially if they were minors at the time of the soldier’s death.  Cindy has done an awesome service to the Bull family and we thank her for her dedication and hours of scanning.
